In a heartwarming cross border encounter, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar met Pakistan captain Babar Azam at New York hotel and exchanged pleasantries ahead of the much anticipated India-Pakistan clash.

ICC events are always keenly followed by Indian cricket fans not only because of the high stakes associated with the trophy but also because of potential clashes between arch Asian rivals India and Pakistan.

In the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup, India will face Pakistan at the newly built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.

While the anticipation around the high-voltage clash continues to build, Pakistan captain Babar Azam had a rare meet up with former Indian cricketer turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar.

In a video shared by PCB officials, Babar Azam is seen bumping into Sunil Gavaskar at the team hotel, and the former greeted the latter with utmost respect and humility.

The duo exchanged pleasantries before having a chat about some undisclosed topic. Before parting, Babar and Gavaskar posed for a photo together as well.

Notably, Pakistan cricket is under the pump ahead of the big clash against a strong and balanced Indian side. They were coming off a series loss against England and didn't perform better either in the previous series against New Zealand and Ireland.

Moreover, with a lot of new faces on the squad and in the aftermath of leadership instability, the Pakistan team does not look settled at all.

On the other hand, India showcased its muscle power against Bangladesh in the lone warm-up game yesterday and won the contest by 60 runs, that too without the services of Virat Kohli.
