India's rising star Abhishek Sharma rose to fame in a short time as he impressed the fans with his performance in IPL 2024 that saw him get India call-up for the Zimbabwe series. 

The left-hand batter shone in the recently concluded series as he scored a century in his 2nd international match. At present, the southpaw was left out of the squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, but he is touted to be one of the players to be part of the T20 World Cup 2026 squad. 

In the latest events, Sharma appeared on a podcast where he opened up on his growing popularity and remarked that not just females, but he is quite popular among males as well. 

"It's not just female attention, I've also received a lot of attention from males. It felt really good. These moments are those which give motivation to any cricketer or celebrity. I also got such attention from them and received good luck and congratulatory messages," said Sharma on Second Innings With Manjot Kalra.

He added that the fans' support and love boosts his confidence and gives him motivation to perform his best. 

Talking about Abhishek's season in IPL, he scored 484 runs in 16 games, which featured three fifties. Despite a great year in the shortest format of the game, Sharma's snub was shocking, but Agarkar revealed that any dropped player would feel hard done by.
