Dhanashree Verma, Yuzvendra Chahal’s wife, is often seen in the stands whenever her husband is in action, particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

As Chahal, one of IPL’s all-time greats, turned 34 on Tuesday, let’s take a look at when his wife’s ecstatic reaction hogged the limelight after an extraordinary performance. 

It happened during IPL 2022, when Rajasthan Royals were up against Kolkata Knight Riders. With KKR needing 38 off 21 balls and having a well-set Shreyas Iyer in the middle, the Royals were on the cusp of a defeat.

Then Chahal turned things around, trapping Shreyas leg-before for a 50-ball 85, before dismissing Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins on the next two deliveries.

Dhanashree was absolutely over the moon, as her reaction suggested, while Chahal celebrated the moment in his unique style, and ended up with the figures of 5/40, his best-ever in the competition’s history.

In all, Chahal has a total of 205 wickets across 160 matches in the IPL, that too at an economy rate of 7.84, which is impressive given his aggressive nature of bowling. As the IPL 2025 mega auction coming up later this year, it will be interesting to see whether the veteran leg-spinner will be retained or released.
