'Look At Rinku...': Ajit Agarkar's Cheeky Response After Gaikwad-Abhishek Snub From SL Tour

India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, and the Chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, addressed the press conference on Monday, 22 July, ahead of Team India's departure for the Sri Lanka tour. 

Last week, BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming T20Is and ODIs with Sri Lanka, a crucial event that is part of India's preparation for the forthcoming Champions Trophy. 

This announcement had some unexpected exclusions and some well-deserved inclusions. However, ever since then, there have been numerous discussions about why players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhishek Sharma are not in the 15-man squad.

Addressing these concerns, Ajit Agarkar reassured the audience about the fairness of the selection process. He cited Rinku Singh as an example, explaining that no matter how well a player performs, only 15 people can make the cut, emphasizing the tough decisions that need to be made.

"Any player who is dropped will feel hard done by. Look at Rinku, he performed really well ahead of the T20 World Cup, but couldn't make the cut. We can only pick 15".

Both Ruturaj and Abhishek were a part of the recently concluded India tour of Zimbabwe; where the CSK skipper, looked in red-hot form as he smashed 133 runs from 3 games at a strike rate of 158 whereas Abhishek smashed a commanding century. Despite their top-class performances they failed to make a cut in the team.

Meanwhile, India will take on SL in a three-match T20I series starting on July 27.
