On Thursday, July 22, the Indian team left for Sri Lanka for the upcoming multi-format tour starting from July 27. It is a new era for the Men in Blue, a one without Rahul Dravid and Rohit-Kohli in the shortest format of the game.

Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach, alongside his coaching staff and the players met at the airport and then headed for the Island Nation. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya also put the rift rumours with Suryakumar Yadav to rest with a special gesture for his MI teammate at the airport.

Notably, during the T20 World Cup, Hardik was the vice-captain and after Rohit announced his retirement from T20Is, Pandya was the frontrunner to lead the side. However, in a shocking turn of events, SKY was named the next Indian captain and in fact Hardik was removed as vice-captain, giving way to Shubman Gill, who will serve as Surya's deputy for the Sri Lanka tour.

Thus, the rumours started that things might not be well between the two, however, Hardik greeted SKY with a warm hug when they met at the Mumbai airport.

In the video, shared by BCCI on their Twitter handle, the camera captured the two MI stars.

Before leaving for Sri Lanka, Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar held a press conference where they also shed light on why SKY was made captain when Pandya was ahead of him in the pecking order.

In that presser, Agarkar revealed that Hardik's fitness was one of the reason why he was ignored for the captain's post.
