Following the conclusion of an eventful Day 4 of the Kanpur Test against India, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz hinted that his team would not play aggressive cricket like the opposition. Instead, Bangladesh will adopt a more cautious strategy on the final day to save the Test.

The Indian cricket team came out all guns blazing on Day 4 of the second Test held at Kanpur to leave Bangladesh and world cricket stunned. The team scored 285 runs in 34.4 overs before Rohit Sharma declared the innings with a 52-run lead. In response, Bangladesh lost two early wickets before stumps on Day 4.

Mehidy Hasan spills Bangladesh's strategy to save Kanpur Test

Meanwhile, ahead of the deceive Day 5, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz stressed that his team would prioritise safety in their approach and refrain from playing aggressive cricket to avert the risk of a defeat.

“Given the current situation, we will prioritise our safety first. We will try to bat as long as possible, which will be good for us and the team,” Mehidy Hasan told PTI.

He further acknowledged that playing for a win would require a significant amount of time, as Bangladesh would need to set a target and then bowl India out again in just three sessions left.

“Playing to win requires a lot of time. If we bat and set a target, we then have to take 10 wickets again. For now, it’s essential to focus on our safety rather than just thinking about winning,” he added.

Hence, with a day left to play, Bangladesh’s focus is on survival rather than pushing for victory.

Team India records fastest 100 in Test cricket

With two days lost due to rain, the Indian team came out with aggressive intent to create a winning opportunity on Day 4 of the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh. Out of the 285 runs scored in 34.4 overs, the first 100 came in just 10.2 overs, which is the fastest record in Test format.

Not only that, India also registered the fastest fifty in Test cricket with the milestone achieved in just first 3 overs. Naturally, openers Rohit Sharma-Yashasvi Jaiswal’s blazing partnership and the rest of the batting order's intent and fearless cricket were applauded by many.
