Pakistan cricket legend Zaheer Abbas has weighed in on the much-debated comparisons between Indian superstar Virat Kohli and Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam, calling them "baseless" arguments.

Virat Kohli, often regarded as one of the greatest batters of the modern day generation, has over 27,000 international runs and 80 centuries to his name along with the countless records he claimed along the way.

On the other hand, Pakistan white-ball format captain Babar Azam, relatively younger, was once compared to Virat Kohli owing to his promising talent.

However, while Kohli continues to be a pillar of Indian cricket, Babar is struggling to keep his place in the Pakistan team after a concerning series of failures.

Babar Azam-Virat Kohli Companions Baseless, Says Zaheer Abbas

Meanwhile, Zaheer Abbas, one of the greatest cricketers in Pakistan's history, expressed his frustration over the constant parallels drawn between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, particularly given Kohli's remarkable consistency and Babar's recent struggles with form.

"Yeh fizool ki baatein hai (the comparisons are pointless). Virat Kohli scores in every match, the other player (Babar Azam) doesn't score in any match, so then how can you compare? The person who scores, he is the bigger player," Zaheer Abbas said.

Speaking during the Cricket Predicta Conclave, Abbas dismissed the comparisons, emphasising that Kohli's ability to score consistently sets him apart. He strongly opined that the one to score runs is always a bigger player.

Younis Khan Wants Babar To Follow Virat Kohli's Footsteps

Former Pakistan batter Younis Khan advised an out-of-form Babar Azam to take a leaf out of Virat Kohli's notebook and step down from captaincy to improve his efficiency as a batter.

He recalled how resignation from captaincy helped Virat Kohli channel his inner greatness and regain old form. And if Babar Azam follows the same, he can also derive the same results, believes Younis Khan.
