Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are known for their power-hitting in white-ball cricket, but on Monday, September 30th, they unleashed their might against helpless Bangladesh bowlers in Test cricket and helped India break their own record of fastest team hundred in the format. India crossed the 100-run mark on the first delivery of the 11th over and bettered their own record, which they created against West Indies in the 13th over.

India reached the milestone in just 61 balls and previous record was of 74 balls in Port of Spain during India's tour of Caribbean in 2023. The third fastest team century record is of Sri Lanka in 2001 when they reached the landmark in 13.2 overs against Bangladesh in Colombo.

Indian Openers Make Intentions Clear With Blistering Start

India's ultra-aggressive approach in their first innings is because of the demand of the game. There were only 35 overs possible before the start of Day 4 because of rain and wet outfield and to force a result, India need to keep their positive attitude intact. The bowlers did well by bundling out Bangladesh for just 233 after they started the day at 107-3. However, the real carnage started when Indian openers walked out to the middle and both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma started going after the bowlers fromt the onset.

The duo smashed fastest team fifty as they reached their in just 18 balls and even though Rohit departed for 23 off 11 balls, Jaiswal kept going and blasted 72 off 51 balls. His knock ensured that India break their own fastest hundred record and till Tea, India managed to score 138 runs at the loss of two wickets with just 16 overs bowled by Bangladesh.
