Gary Kirsten took over the coaching duties of Pakistan team ahead of T20 World Cup 2024, and much was expected from him given his success with other teams in the past. However, Pakistan ended up losing to USA and India in the group stage, and got knocked out in the first round itself, leaving everyone completely shocked.

Also, there has been a constant talk about the lack of unity in the team from cricket pundits in Pakistan team, but people inside the setup were silent on the issue, However, now Kirsten has also emphasised on the lack of unity in the Pakistan team according to Pakistan journalist Ihtisham Ul Haq.

Ul Haq revealed that Kirsten has blasted the Pakistan team's environment where he mentioned that everyone is separated in the team and is moving in different directions.

Kirsten who has coached India to World Cup title in 2011 and was part of successful campaigns with Gujarat Titans also stated that he has worked with many teams, but have never seen the situation that he has seen in Pakistan team where there is no unity whatsoever.

“There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team, They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I’ve worked with many teams, but I’ve never seen such a situation”.

There are likely to be wholesome changes in Pakistan team after the disaster of T20 World Cup, and it would be interesting to see how Kirsten shapes up the team environment with important event like Champions Trophy 2025 coming up.
