BCCI Vice President, Rajeev Shukla has categorically denied rumours of rift between Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. He revealed that everything is fine in the dressing room and that certain sections of the media are spreading false narrative.

Reports of a strained relationship between Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir gather some steam after India's below-par show in Australia. It was reportedly seen that the tension was present when the two shared cold vibes allegedly during the training session in Sydney ahead of the fifth test.

This followed Gambhir’s leaked dressing room speech after the Boxing Day Test loss, where he sternly addressed underperforming players.

Rajeev Shukla has strictly rejected the news saying such media news is rubbish. The vice president of BCCI also threw his weight behind Rohit, who is having a bad run of form for the last couple of months, more so when India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3 in Australia.

"There is no rift between the captain and coach. It is all rubbish which is being spread in a section of the media," Shukla said.

Rohit Sharma had faced severe criticism on his form with just 31 runs in four Tests against Australia at a poor average of 6.2. This marked a dry period for the batsman, who had scored just one half-century since September.

Calls have grown for him to relinquish captaincy and focus on regaining form, with demands for senior players like Rohit and Virat Kohli to participate in the Ranji Trophy to rediscover their touch.

Rohit Sharma will train with Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, under fire for lean form, is set to practice with Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad this week. The development comes ahead of weeks before the Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian Express quoted that Rohit is also considering playing in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir, which is scheduled to start from January 23. Rohit last played in the Ranji Trophy in 2015.
