MI Emirates beat Dubai Capitals by 26 runs in the fourth match of the ILT20 2025 season. Tom Banton and Nicholas Pooran’s 109-run partnership guided Emirates to a competitive total of 187 runs. In the second inning, Shai Hope led the Capitals with a stunning century. However, due to a lack of support from his teammates, the Capitals had to endure an ugly loss.

Emirates vs Capitals Highlights: Waseem’s run-out ruins Emirates’ powerplay

MI Emirates batted first, with Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera coming out to open. Perera was sent packing by Chameera’s precise good length delivery that clipped the off-stump. To add to the drama, Waseem called for a single on Chameera’s midfield, but Tom Banton aborted midway after initially agreeing to the single. Waseem was left stranded in the middle of the pitch, leading to an unfortunate runout.

Tom Banton was later joined by captain Nicholas Pooran. The duo added a colossal 109 runs combined for the third wicket. Banton hammered 74 runs off 52 balls with nine boundaries to become his team’s leading run-scorer. On the other hand, Pooran slammed six maximums to accumulate a blazing 59 off 29 balls. 

Kieron Pollard also added 22 off 19 balls to steer the MI Emirates to a par total of 187 runs by the end of the first innings. For Dubai Capitals, Gulbadin Naib picked three wickets in three overs for 18 runs.

Shai Hope and Ben Dunk knitted a 54-run opening partnership before Alzarri got the breakthrough on the final ball of the powerplay. However, the wicket didn’t have any impact on Shai Hope. He slammed every bowler that came his way to hammer a remarkable century. His 101 off 59 balls knock included 11 boundaries and three sixes. Dubai Capitals appeared to be cruising in the chase, but Ghazanfar’s breakthrough in dismissing the dangerous Hope added life to what looked like a one-sided game.

Emirates vs Capitals Highlights: Lower order collapse leads to heartbreaking loss for Dubai

Despite Shai Hope’s century, Dubai Capitals suffered from an unwarranted lower-order collapse. Fazal Farooqi nailed two dismissals of Sikandar Raza and Dasun Shanaka to trigger the collapse in the first place. With 36 needed off the final over, the Capitals surrendered to endure a 26-run loss. Apart from Farooqi, Alzarri Joseph picked two crucial wickets. Waqar Salamkheil and Ghazanfar also scalped a wicket each to help MI Emirates’ winning cause.
