Desert Vipers and Gulf Giants will clash against each other in the fifth match of the ongoing third season of ILT20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on January 14. Including two playoff matches, it is going to be the third out of the 15 ILT20 2025 matches to be played in Dubai.

Gulf Giants

Having failed to defend a 175-run target against Sharjah Warriors on Sunday, Gulf Giants ended up losing their first match of the season. As a result, they find themselves at the bottom half of the points table. In addition to their openers, they would be hoping for their star pacers to make quick fixes to their game in a bid to be off the mark on the table.

Desert Vipers

Desert Vipers, on the contrary, are at the top of the points table on the back of defeating Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by 7 wickets. Unlike GG, DV’s first-choice pacers bowled economical spells in spite of not picking a lot of wickets.

Having leaked 48 runs in his four-over spell, all-rounder Sam Curran was their only bowler to have conceded over 10 runs per over. However, scoring a half-century in a match-winning 59-ball 95-run third-wicket partnership alongside Dan Lawrence covered up for his lapses in the first innings.

At 33, Lockie Ferguson is leading for the first time in this format.
