In one of the most surprising turn of events Rohit Sharma opted to 'rest' himself for the fifth and final Test of the BGT 2024-25. While there were rumours going around that the visitors might rest their regular captain and hand over the responsibilities to Jasprit Bumrah for the all important series-decider, when the moment actually realised the fans were left baffled.

The fact that this might happen was indicated by the net sessions and fielding drills on the eve of the game. Gautam Gambhir was seen giving more time to Shubman Gill as a batter in the nets and the Indian player was also seen practicing slip catches for spin bowlers. The second factor was a major indication as the regular Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma generally positions himself in the slips for the spinners.

As Rohit's exit in the fifth Test was confirmed, rift between him and the current Indian head coach, Gautam Gambhir became the talk of the town. While fans in social media were busy interpreting the body language of the two in each other's presence, various sources started revealing dressing room chats claiming the rift between the two players.

As per one of the reports, India team there is an internal rift among the players in the dressing room. It has claimed that there is a lack of communication between the players with the captain or the coach.
