Pretoria Capitals (PC) and SunRisers Eastern Cape (SEC), two sides who are still winless in the ongoing SA20 2025 tournament will go against each other at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on 14th January is search of their first victory of the season from 4:30 PM IST.
Pretoria Capitals
Pretoria Capitals would feel extremely unfortunate after missing out on sealing the deal against Durban's Super Giants in what turned out to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller. Despite bossing the game for the most part, courtesy of their openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Will Jacks, who stitched a 154-run stand for the first wicket, the Capitals choked under pressure and lost out on game by a margin of just 2 runs. And their second game against the same opposition was washed out without even a ball being bowled.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape
On the other hand, the inaugural and defending champions SunRisers Eastern Cape, have had a more challenging time on the field as they lost both of their games very comfortably. Their opening game against MI Cape Town was a disaster as they were defeated by a hefty margin of 97 runs after getting shot out for a shameful 77. Their second encounter against Paarl Royals wasn't any different, as they couldn't defend 175.

How will the SuperSport Park pitch behave?
Known as an excellent supportive wicket for batting, Centurion's SuperSport Park is a paradise for batters who love to go big. The conditions favour the batters generally due to variable bounce and quick outfield. The average score at this venue in the first innings is 183 as compared to 165 in the second, which tells us why batting first is a good idea here.
200 runs were scored five times here out of eight completed innings last year in SA20 2024. However, things don't seem to be great for the bowlers who struggle here more often than not. Pacers still get some movement and bounce, but spinners depend more on their luck than relying on conditions. So, teams winning the toss will likely bat first here.
Players to Watch Out For in PC vs SEC Match 7
Pretoria Capitals
Will Jacks: The English hitter smashed 64 from 35 balls against DSG with as many as five maximums, making him an intriguing prospect. Further, he has the most runs at this venue as well.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz: Afghanistani opener turned the heads around with breathtaking innings of 89 runs that almost took his side home in the previous game until he lost his patience. And not to forget the unbelievable seven sixes he thwacked that day.
Kyle Verreynne: The wicket-keeper batter has done brilliantly for South Africa in international cricket, as he did for Pretoria last season with 256 runs from six innings while recording a century as well.
Senuran Muthusamy: Taking three wickets in the previous game, he is also capable of scoring runs in the middle-order. Still looking to fulfil his potential, the all-rounder can come in handy when required for his side.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape
Aiden Markram: SunRisers' skipper has been in some form with the bat, striking a brutal 82 off 49 deliveries with seven fours and two sixes to his name with a healthy strike rate of 167. Can pick up crucial wickets with the ball as well.
Marco Jansen: A proper cricketing all-rounder who bowls genuine pace and plays shots as good as any batter, Jansen is the MVP that most teams look for in their side. Can bat anywhere in the middle-order and bowl anytime from powerplay to death overs.
Tristan Stubbs: This youngster has often grabbed the limelight in the past couple of years with his exhilarating performances with the bat. Over 300 runs last season is a testimony of his outstanding talent.
Zak Crawley: England's Crawley can be an aggressive option with the bat who takes on the opposition from ball one. Scored 27 in the last game at a strike rate of 150, which is why he is preferred over other batters.
