According to emerging reports, Indian captain Rohit Sharma might not be picked for the Test series against England in June this year. Hailed for his scintillating stroke play, Rohit failed miserably with the bat in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, managing only 31 runs at a horrendous average of 6.20. The Mumbaikar recently attended the BGT review meeting, where chief selector Ajit Agarkar had a long discussion with him regarding his future.

BCCI Not Considering Jasprit Bumrah As Long-Term Captain?

According to a report by The Print, the BCCI is sweating over Jasprit Bumrah's fitness concerns, with the ace speedster set to miss the Champions Trophy group-stage games due to back swelling.

Although Bumrah led India to a memorable win in the first BGT Test in Rohit's absence, the fast bowler's injury-prone body has sown the seeds of doubt about his long-term stint as India's Test captain. Having said that, the BCCI hasn't yet found another suitable name and might appoint Bumrah as the Indian skipper for the England tour.

Pant vs Jaiswal Toss-Up For Test Vice-Captaincy

However, the apex body is searching for a reliable vice-captain who can lead India if Bumrah gets ruled out at some point during the England Tests. The report claims that while swashbuckling keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is the front-runner to become Bumrah's deputy, Yashasvi Jaiswal has also thrown his hat to become a part of the leadership group following his astounding success on Australian soil.

All in all, the Indian team is in transition, and we might witness several notable changes in the playing XI as well as the leadership group in the coming times.
