Rohit Sharma was cleaned up by Cummins [Source: @gavaskar_theman/X]
Indian captain Rohit Sharma had a horrendous outing with the bat, as Australian skipper Pat Cummins castled him with a ripper in the ongoing second Test at Adelaide Oval. Coming at number six, Rohit managed only six runs before Cummins cleaned him up with an absolute beauty.
The incident occurred during the 21st over of India's second innings when Rohit had just joined Rishabh Pant in the middle to steady the ship for the visitors. However, the Indian skipper found Cummins too hot to handle, with the Aussie pacer shattering his timber with a ripper.
From over the wicket, Pat Cummins bowled a good-length delivery around the off stump. As Rohit tried to play a defensive shot, the ball straightened off the pitch, beating him on his outside edge.
Cummins' dream delivery hit the top of Rohit's off-stump, sending him back for a sloth-paced 15-ball six. This was the Indian captain's second consecutive failure, having managed another single-digit score in the first innings.
India Lose Five Wickets As Aussies Run Riot
After scoring a respectable 337-run total in the first innings, Australia were clinical with the ball, jolting India with regular strikes. While Jaiswal and Gill couldn't capitalise on their starts, the likes of Rahul, Kohli and Rohit had no answer to Australia's rampant bowling unit. At the time of writing, India were in a spot of bother, placed at 117 for five in 23 overs. Rishabh Pant was batting alongside all-rounder Nitish Reddy, with the duo gradually reducing India's deficit.
