India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has spilled the beans on how she stays calm during intense matches. In a candid confession, she said that MS Dhoni helped her to learn pressure-handling tactics.

Deepti is unarguably one of the finest all-rounders to serve Indian women’s cricket. At 27 years of age, Deepti Sharma has already achieved a major milestone by becoming the member of elite 300-wicket club in international cricket, along with the legendary Jhulan Goswami.

Deepti Sharma Takes Inspiration From Legend MS Dhoni

Apart from her skill with the ball and her steady batting, it’s her cool-headed approach under pressure that has fans and experts talking. In a recent chat with BCCI TV, Deepti gave full credit to MS Dhoni for helping her develop that calmness.

"I have learnt to handle pressure from MS Dhoni sir. I used to be glued to the TV whenever there was a match featuring him and watch them. It never seemed like he (Dhoni) was under pressure at any moment, he would calmly handle the situation and finish the game at last. That is exactly what I have also developed in my game," Deepti said.

Whether it’s picking up key wickets when the team needs it most or playing a crucial knock with the bat, Deepti has turned into Team India’s go-to player in clutch moments. Shedding light on her mindset, Deepti said she loves challenges, and keeping the process simple is the key.

"I keep things simple, for example, in every match when I get the chance to bowl, be it in the powerplay or slog overs, I handle that task very calmly. I love challenges, and whenever a tough situation arises, the team management feels that we have Deepti in our ranks and she can get the job done," she added.

Deepti Sees A Surge In T20I Bowler Rankings

India’s spin sensation Deepti Sharma is just one step away from creating history. After her brilliant three-wicket haul in the third T20I against England, the 27-year-old has jumped to second place in the latest ICC T20I bowler rankings

Deepti overtook Australia’s Annabel Sutherland and now trails Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal by just 8 points. With 1 more match left in the series, Deepti has a golden chance to finally grab that elusive No.1 spot, a position she has never held despite being in the top 10 for over six years.
