Bangladesh superstar Shakib Al Hasan upheld his title as one of the best all-rounders in modern cricket. In the first match of the Global Super League 2025, he displayed his all-round excellence by scoring a half-century and claiming a 4-wicket-haul against Central Stags.

For the 2025 Global Super League, Shakib had to join Dubai Capitals, and in the opening fixture against Central Stags, he starred with an all-round performance.

Shakib Al Hasan Shines Bright In GSL Opener

Batting first, the Dubai Capitals were in early trouble at 77/5. But Shakib Al-Hasan walked in with calm confidence and turned the tide.

He made a superb 58 off 37 balls, including seven boundaries. His stay at the crease was marked by intelligent choice of shots and swift running between wickets. While the others were having a hard time on the crease, Shakib was consistent and led his side to a fighting total of 165/7 in 20 overs.

But Shakib wasn't finished yet. He then took the ball, and immediately his magic began. Bowling his left-arm spin with amazing control, he took 4 wickets for just 13 runs in his 4 overs in second inning.

His precision and intelligent variations bemused the Stags' batsmen. Two of his wickets were in quick succession, shattering the back of the Stags' chase. Shakib was undoubtedly the best bowler on the field.

Thanks to his match-winning show with both bat and ball, Dubai Capitals won the first game of the Global Super League 2025 season by 22 runs.

Shakib Shubbed By Rangpur Riders In GSL

Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan joined Dubai Capitals for the Global Super League 2025. The star all-rounder was expected to return to the Rangpur Riders, but the team chose to move on, citing internal tensions. The all-rounder has been at odds with the BCB for a while now. Due to political tensions in Bangladesh, Shakib hasn’t set foot in his country for months and continues to be sidelined from the national team.
