A force in international cricket, India's Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September 2022 and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Bumrah is recovering from a lower back stress fracture and has been putting in the hard yards at NCA, aiming to regain full fitness and make a comeback into the national side ahead of the marquee Cricket World Cup 2023.

As per speculations, the pacer might not only return but lead India in their T20I series against Ireland next month.

However, India's current skipper Rohit Sharma, who is gearing up to take on West Indies in a three-ODI series starting today, revealed that Bumrah's inclusion for the Ireland tour is not known to him.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, Sharma did maintain that the Mumbai Indians' fast bowler is making a good recovery, and things are looking positive.

Here's what Sharma said

"The amount of experience he (Bumrah) brings is very important. Right now he's coming from a serious injury and I've no idea if he'll travel to Ireland because the team hasn't been announced yet. If he gets to play then it's good and we hope he plays before the World Cup. When a player returns from a serious injury, match fitness, match feeling are some key components, which are missing.

We'll see what has been planned and everything depends on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the NCA and things look positive at the moment,”

Bumrah's tryst with back injury began in July 2022 in England and since then has been constantly in trouble, missing competitions such as Asia Cup 2022, T20 World Cup 2022, and Indian Premier League 2023.
