The Rajasthan Royals (RR) kept their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign alive by knocking out the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a thrilling eliminator. The match, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, saw RR chase down a target of 173 with four wickets in hand and six balls to spare.

The game was a rollercoaster for RCB fans, whose hopes soared and crashed multiple times, much like their team's season. Early sloppy fielding by RCB proved costly, allowing RR to capitalize and ultimately secure the win.

RR won the toss and chose to bowl, managing to restrict RCB to 172/8 in their 20 overs. Despite several key moments, RCB failed to build sustained pressure on RR, which cost them dearly.

Faf du Plessis Reflects on IPL 2024 Exit

Reflecting on the loss, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis remarked that his side were short of runs against Rajasthan in Eliminator of the IPL 2024. His acknowledgment of the challenging conditions highlighted the team's efforts despite falling short.

"Yeah, look I think with the dew coming in the second innings, we were a few short on that pitch. You need a few more runs to make it a push. Credit to our boys for making a fight of it," du Plessis said in the post-match interview.

He further analyzed the defeat, saying, "With 1 win from 9, other teams might have their wheels fallen off but we did well to win six on the trot. The boys showed great character, we gave it our best, and it is not easy to win six on the bounce. We still feel an extra push for 15-20 runs on that pitch would have been a fighting total."

With this loss, RCB's journey in IPL 2024 ends, while RR will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2 on May 24th at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.

The winner will then take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024 final on May 26th at the same venue.
