Chasing a steep 173-run total, the Royals got past the finish line with four wickets and an over to spare, with ace West Indies batter Rovman Powell starring with the bat for them.
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis' decision to hand the ball to Lockie Ferguson for the penultimate over backfired on the Red Brigade as Powell thrashed the Kiwi pacer all around the park.
After starting the over with consecutive boundaries, Powell struck a magnificent six down the ground, helping RR reach the qualifier 2 of the competition.
It was a full length delivery from Ferguson as Powell hit it powerfully straight down the ground. He timed it so well that the ball sailed over the fence for a six, causing in RR's thrilling victory.
After RR emerged victorious in the face-off, ex-RCB skipper Virat Kohli expressed his disappointment. Kohli, who left no stone unturned as a batter and fielder in the tournament, was deeply hurt by RCB's defeat in the knockout fixture.
On the contrary, RR, who sealed a win in the eliminator, will be up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the qualifier 2 on Friday.
