Earlier on Monday, the Hyderabad team took the captaincy reigns away from Aiden Markram to announce the Australian all-rounder as their skipper for the IPL 2024. Additionally, the SRH franchise spent a whopping price of INR 20.50 Crore in the recently conducted IPL 2024 auction.
Cummins has had a phenomenal record in the tournament for his previous IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) with 45 wickets in his bag.
Pat Cummins Reflects on the Heartwarming Support From Indian Fans
In a recent interview with Star Sports, Pat Cummins highlighted feeling a sense of belongingness in India considering the fans are always rooting for him even if he is playing against their favourites. He recalled how people from Kolkata used to come to him and hail him for playing for KKR.
"India is like a second home. We spend so much time here. IPL you've got your home teams. So you actually feel like you've got plenty of fans Or, you know, at least cricket fans that have, you know, supported you or, you know, lots of people come up to me and say, Oh, I'm from Kolkata or I go for KKR. So it's a nice feeling like not everyone's against you," Cummins said.
"I'm just a big believer in concentrating on what I do. Those guys are that good if you're just a little bit off, they'll find a way to kind of put you off your game. So, um yeah, it's always good coming up against Virat. He's got me a few times. I've got him a few times. It's always pretty good."
Pat Cummins' SRH will begin his IPL 2024 campaign on 23rd March against his former franchise Kolkata at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
