The South African fast bowling legend, Dale Steyn, has decided to take a break from his IPL responsibilities this season, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to begin their search for a replacement bowling coach ahead of the 2024 campaign. To replace him, the Orange Army has brought James Franklin to their camp, confirmed by ESPNCricinfo.

According to Cricbuzz, the esteemed South African cricketer, who has played 93 Tests, 125 ODIs, and 47 T20Is under his belt, is expected to make a comeback in the next season. However, he will remain unavailable for the entire upcoming season.

Steyn assumed the role of SRH bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2022 season. He is the main man behind grooming India's pace sensation Umran Malik, turning him into a big shot in international cricket. 

Now, it's up to coach Daniel Vettori to hunt down the right candidate to fill the shoes of Dale Steyn. An official announcement about the new bowling coach is on the horizon as the franchise rushes to fill the gap ahead of the upcoming season.


Other Major Changes in SRH Camp

Additionally, there's a strong possibility that Pat Cummins will be appointed as the new captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. 

Cummins' successful tenure as captain of the Australian team, along with his connection to Vettori, who is part of the Australian coaching staff, strengthens his chances of taking up the role.

Pat Cummins made headlines in the IPL 2024 auction by securing a jaw-dropping INR 20.50 crore, thus making him the most expensive player in the history of the IPL.

In the previous two seasons, South Africa's Aiden Markram led Sunrisers Hyderabad, but the team failed to make any major breakthroughs.
