Jasprit Bumrah Released, KL Rahul Ruled Out As India Update Squad For 4th Test vs ENG

Ahead of the crucial fourth Test against England in Ranchi, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the team's squad. The decision, attributed to the intensive cricket schedule and Bumrah's recent workload, aims to manage the fast bowler's fitness prudently, especially considering his history with back issues.

India without Bumrah and Rahul for IND vs ENG 4th Test

Jasprit Bumrah, known for his devastating reverse swing, has been instrumental in putting the English batsmen under pressure throughout the series.

Despite the World No. 1 Test bowler's exceptional performance, the team management has opted for workload management, ensuring his long-term availability and effectiveness.

Mukesh Kumar, who showcased his talent in the second Test at Visakhapatnam, and the yet-to-debut Akash Deep are the potential replacements. However, the final decision on Bumrah's replacement will be influenced by the Ranchi pitch conditions.

If the pitch favours spin, Axar Patel might be seen making a comeback, positioning Mohammed Siraj as the lone seamer in the squad.

Bumrah’s release comes as India leads the series 2-1, with the team focused on maintaining their momentum.

Additionally, the absence of KL Rahul, who has also been ruled out of the fourth Test due to fitness concerns has added another layer to the challenge facing the Indian squad.

With KL Rahul being ruled out, Rajat Patidar is likely to retain his place in India’s playing XI for the fourth Test vs England.

Moreover, the conditions in Dharamsala, hosting the fifth Test, are anticipated to be more conducive for fast-bowling, which makes Bumrah’s rest all the more important.
