This evening, Delhi Capitals Women will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the all-important final of the ongoing WPL season. Led by Meg Lanning, Delhi Capitals had a memorable campaign in the league stage, entering the final as the top-ranked side in the five-team standings.

After losing to Mumbai Indians in the last-ball thriller, the Capitals bounced back remarkably, securing six wins in their seven subsequent fixtures. Barring skipper Lanning, one player who has significantly contributed to their success is ace South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp.

Playing as a new ball specialist, Kapp has scalped eleven wickets in six matches at a superb average of 14.18. Her strike rate of 13.09 and economy of 6.50 vividly represent how instrumental she has been in DC's rise this season

Meanwhile, ahead of the WPL final, Kapp has revealed the secret of her astounding success in the tournament.

As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, the Proteas all-rounder stressed that she would stick to the basics and try to hit the right areas in the final, a ploy that has worked wonders for her.

"I've found if I just stick to what I do best I usually end up with the wickets or being quite economical. When I thought they would maybe try and lap or they were going to run at me or step across the line and I try something different, that's usually when I go for runs," Kapp said.

"But if they do those things and I stick to what I do best, usually it works out. So I just try and keep it simple, hit my hard back of a length, bowl line and length, and try and bowl as many dot balls as possible," she added.

Besides being effective with the ball, Kapp has contributed 71 runs with the bat at a blistering strike rate of 165.11. Considering her red-hot form, we reckon she will be the most important player for Delhi Capitals Women in the final, set to begin at 7.30 PM IST this evening.
