In an absolutely heroic performance from Delhi Capitals Women, Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey clipped two early wickets in the Powerplay to put Mumbai Indians Women's 193 run-chase in jeopardy.

After Meg Lanning's fighting half-century, Jemimah Rodriguez stole the show for Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Coming in at the death overs, Jemimah activated fifth gear from the word go. Her 69 runs innings off a mere 33 deliveries elevated DC-W's first-inning score to a mammoth total of 192 runs.

However, with Harmanpreet Kaur back into the side, the game was evenly poised until Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey utilized their experience to hand early blows to the defending champions.

Kapp opened for DC-W and had the last laugh after Yastika hammered her for a boundary. The ball angled in after hitting the good length and beat Bhatia as she attempted a half-minded pull shot. The sharp ball crashed into the off-stump, and MI was one down with a mere seven runs on the board.

While Nat Sciver-Brunt was promoted up the order over Harmanpreet Kaur, she succumbed under the pressure of a gigantic chase. Shikha Pandey unraveled her magic with the new ball and rolled up a fullish seaming back delivery to Nat. The batter shuffled across to go for the flick but was undone by the seam movement as the ball crashed into the middle stump.

With the scoreboard flashing 12/2, Delhi Capitals Women were back on top. Kapp and Pandey's early blows proved to be instrumental in shaping the course of the match. DC didn't let Jemimah's momentum slip and controlled the steep chase. Undoubtedly, the dynamic duo's relentless bowling display set the tone for a competitive contest between the two stalwart teams.

That being said, MI kept losing wickets at regular intervals and in the end fell way short of the target as DC registered a comprehensive 29-run win.
