The row over hosting rights for Champions Trophy 2025 is far from getting over. While there is no official communication that BCCI does not want India to travel to Pakistan, reports have hinted that security is a big reason why the Roger Binny-led board is pushing for a hybrid model.

On the other hand, PCB are adamant over hosting the prestigious fifty-over tournament in Pakistan. While the board are yet to have an official dialogue over the matter, several former cricketers across nations have jumped onto the bandwagon and opined their views.

Recently, Harbhajan Singh advocated that India should not go to Pakistan because of major security threats there. In the latest events, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi responded to the security remark and termed it as an excuse from BCCI.

Afridi stated that India have no intention of playing against Pakistan thus, making security concerns an excuse. Afridi went on to add that even the Pakistani side received several threats from India.

"Hum itni baar india gaye hai. Mushkil halat mein gaye. Humein dhamkiya bhi milti rahi fir bhi hum india ke tour karte rahe. Aapki niyat se pata chal gya. Humne india ko support kiya hai. Humko threat milte rahe but Pakistan Cricket Board and government ne initiative liya hai. Agar Indian cricket board ki niyat hai Pakistan ke sath chalne ki toh aajayega. Agar nahi hai, toh nahi aayenge fir security ko bahane bana dege (We have gone to India so many times in difficult situations. We got threats and still went to India. We will get to know their intention. We have always supported India. We got threats but the Pakistan Cricket Board and government always took the initiative. If they want to come, they will come. If they do not want to come, they will use security as an excuse)," Afridi told local media at an event for his foundation.

It is worth noting that Champions Trophy 2025 will be the first ICC tournament to be hosted by Pakistan after 29 years.
