In a shocking development, the Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell unfollowed Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Instagram.

There could be several reasons for this and one such reason could be that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) might realise his services ahead of the Indian Premier League auction in 2025.

Glenn Maxwell future with RCB is uncertain as the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches. Purchased for 14.25 Crores in the 2021 auction, Maxwell was a key acquisition for RCB.

In 2023, Glenn Maxwell was in commendable form, where he scored 400 runs in 14 innings. But could not continue with it in IPL 2024 season, where he scored only 52 runs in 10 matches.

Ahead of the IPL 2025, the franchises brace themselves for a long-term overhaul in rosters, instead of the mega auction. Maxwell, having been a journeyman throughout his IPL career, could be on the market as he finds a new home in the cash-rich T20 league.

Given the nature of T20 leagues and team dynamics, franchises often have to make tough decisions. So, likely if Bengaluru decides to let Maxwell go to free up funds for younger all-around talents, it will be a significant move.

His recent social media activity, as he unfollowed RCB on Instagram, has fueled rumours of his potential exit.
