Trent Rockets spinner Imad Wasim bowled through the gates of Jamie Overton to split the game wide open against Manchester Originals at Manchester’s Old Trafford. Turning up for his side in match number seven of The Hundred Men’s 2024 season, the Pakistan-based all-rounder delivered two timely breakthroughs in succession to derail Manchester’s charge in a tense chase.

Wasim’s two-wicket burst in the death overs eventually set up path of Trent Rockets’ thrilling one-run triumph over the Originals to register their second successive win of the season.

Defending 146, Imad Wasim went wicketless in his opening spell while sharing the new-ball with express paceman Luke Wood. In his return spell during the slog overs, Wasim claimed the wickets of Jamie Overton and Tom Hartley in a space of just three deliveries to disrupt Manchester’s momentum by tilting the tide back in Trent Rockets favor.

Overton, in particular, failed to read Wasim’s incoming spin as he was bowled through the gates amidst the mounting run-chase pressure.

Imad Wasim also had Tom Hartley out stumped by Tom Banton a couple of deliveries later as Manchester Originals slipped to 121-6 in 84 balls. Apart from Wasim, Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan claimed two of his own to complete 600 T20 wickets.

Trent Rockets went on to win the game by a run courtesy of a tight final over by Jordan Thompson.

Earlier in the match, Trent Rockets listed 145-7 from 100 balls, with Tom Banton top-scoring with 45 of those runs off just 22 deliveries. Tom Hartley played starring role with the ball for the Manchester Originals by claiming figures of 3-25.
