In the latest developments around England cricket, there are reports that the ECB has decided to give a longer rope to Jos Buttler and will have him continue as England's white-ball captain.

Earlier, there were reports that the ECB is looking to sack Jos Buttler as captain over his recent injuries and poor performance. Notably, under Buttler, England faced early exits in the 2023 World Cup and lost in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

A report from the telegraph remarked that England will continue with Buttler as their captain, but head coach Matthew Mott will face the axe.

ECB is looking to replace Mott with someone who has had a good playing career as well. Meanwhile, Andrew Flintoff and Mike Hussey have emerged as the favourites to replace Mott. The apex cricket board from England would look to make these changes before the Three Lions' white-ball series against Australia in September.

Meanwhile, a report also mentioned that among the bookies, Flintoff has emerged as the favourite as most bets have been placed on him to replace Mott.

While England are struggling in white-ball cricket, their red-ball performance is not that great as they are placed 6th on the WTC standings. However, they won 2-0 against West Indies in the recently concluded home Test series.
