Former Indian cricketer and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh has thrown his weight behind the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) decision to cancel the tour to Pakistan to participate in the upcoming Champions Trophy, citing safety concerns.

Champions Trophy 2025 edition preparations are in full swings back in host country Pakistan. PCB firmly believes that India will travel to Pakistan for the ICC event, irrespective of the political concerns between the two nations.

However, BCCI's stands appear firm as the board is reportedly seeking a hybrid model whereby India's games are shifted to a neutral venue.

That being said, amid uncertainty, former Indian spinner and Rajya Sabha house MP Harbhajan Singh supported BCCI's decision to avoid travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

While speaking to IANS, Bhajji said owing to significant safety concerns, India should not travel to Pakistan. The safety of the players is paramount, and hence, he fully supports BCCI's stand on the matter.

Harbhajan also added that everyday security breaches are reported in the neighbouring country, and hence, under tense circumstances, it's in the best interest of the Indian team to avoid stepping foot in Pakistan.

The Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in 2025, has faced several hurdles due to the strained relations between the two neighbouring countries.

BCC is likely to approach ICC with a request of a hybrid model whereas PCB has requested ICC to convince the Indian cricket board to let the event unfold as per schedule. Notably, PCB has scheduled India's games at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
