Former cricketer and analyst Aakash Chopra feels Royal Challengers Bengaluru should go all out and have their wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant in the coming IPL 2025 mega auction. He believes M.Chinnaswamy Stadium’s shorter boundaries will suit Pant’s playing style, and RCB shouldn’t hesitate to spend INR 25 crores on him if required.

Rishabh Pant, one of India’s most exciting wicket-keeper batters, will enter IPL 2025 mega auction since Delhi Capitals (DC) released him from the retention list. Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer will be on top of the shopping list because the three of them have immense experience and seniority with leadership.

RCB asked to buy Rishabh Pant for mega price

Meanwhile, prior to the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction, which is scheduled for November 24, 25, Aakash Chopra came up with a list of the best bidders for Rishabh Pant. He backed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to take it all the way and buy wicket-keeper Pant.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra explained that Pant will be effective in M.Chinnaswamy since the stadium has shorter boundaries and flat pitch. Chopra added that RCB should fully commit to Pant even if his bid crosses INR 25 crores.

"Will you go towards Rishabh Pant? In my opinion, they should go towards him. Again a small ground, it will suit him as well. Please go for him even if you have to go till ₹25 crore," Chopra said.

Still, in case Rishabh Pant ends up being an expensive buy, Aakash Chopra listed KL Rahul as an alternative for RCB. Rahul is a local boy with years of experience playing at the M.Chinnaswamy. But as far as Shreyas Iyer is concerned, Chopra doesn’t see him wearing the red jersey.

"If you feel you don't need Rishabh Pant and need KL Rahul because he is a local boy and knows this ground as well, he will also like the small ground and flat pitch. So you can also try to bring him with you. I don't think this team will go that aggressively for Shreyas Iyer because they will leave him for Delhi," he added.

CSK CEO spills beans on auction plans for Pant

Rishabh Pant is also being widely linked to CSK due to his closeness with former captain MS Dhoni. However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan dismissed the rumours with subtle hints. In a podcast with Ambati Rayudu, Viswanathan said that CSK’s primary strategy is to buy back core players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Moreover, since their remaining purse amount is already low, the CEO admits CSK stands weak in pursuit of superstar players, including Rishabh Pant.
