The IPL 2025 is creating much buzz as major changes in the team equations are expected. The retention lists of the teams are out, and with the mega auction coming up, the fans are excited to see the fate of their favourite players.

One of the teams that created the most buzz during the release of the retention lists was Delhi Capitals. They released their last edition's skipper and one of their prime batting stays, Rishabh Pant. Since the release of Rishabh Pant, there have been rumours that the Chennai Super Kings will buy the player during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

However, the five-time champions and the league's most consistent team are known for maintaining their core. They generally try to repurchase most of their players from the previous editions during the auction. So, considering the CSK auction trends, here are three reasons why CSK will not buy Rishabh Pant during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

3. Budget Constraints

Rishabh Pant will be in hot demand during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Many teams will be looking to rope in a batter like Pant, who can change the complexion of any game from any stage. Besides, in Rishabh Pant, the teams will get a captaincy candidate with significant experience leading a team in the league. These are why teams with bigger purses like PBKS and RCB might hunt him down. On the other hand, CSK, with a budget of INR 55 Cr, might not be able to compete with such teams.

2. Batting Approach of Rishabh Pant

Chennai Super Kings might look for dynamic players in the middle order. Rishabh Pant is a dynamic batter and no doubt a match-winner. However, CSK has sometimes struggled with players who take a few deliveries to settle in before shifting gears. Pant has lately shown the tendency to take some time in the middle of T20s, which CSK might not look for during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

1. Loyalty Towards Players

CSK have always shown great loyalty towards their players and have always tried to repurchase them during the auctions. As a result, there is a chance that CSK will look to repurchase players like Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, or even Sameer Rizvi. This will automatically exhaust their budgets to go after a player like Rishabh Pant.
