'Don't Compare Him With Yuvraj Singh': Sanjay Manjrekar Roasts Ravindra Jadeja 'Yet Again'

Ever since being called bits-and-pieces cricketer, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has displayed prowess with both bat and ball in performances, shutting down all his critics. Against Nepal on Monday, Jadeja claimed three crucial wickets in the Asia Cup 2023 Group A encounter, providing some respectability to the bowling attack.

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar, who openly criticised Jadeja in 2019, has now called the all-rounder a crucial member. Speaking to Star Sports, Manjrekar explained that Jadeja's place in the XI for all ICC World Cup 2023 matches is a guarantee, however, refrained from comparing the CSK player to former India cricket Yuvraj Singh.

Jadeja faces stiff competition from the likes of Akshar Patel, and Washington Sundar.

Here's what Manjrekar said

"There is a very good chance, it’s almost a certainty that he will play all the World Cup matches. India can’t do without him. Axar Patel will be there in the reserves but Jadeja will be the first-choice spin-bowling all-rounder. If the pitch is rough, if you have got a quality opposition, he will finish in 10 overs.

"But the batting all-rounder we had in 2011, Yuvraj Singh. It's not fair to compare his batting with Jadeja. So I see him more as a bowling all-rounder with somebody who can be a threat at No. 7 or No.8. His white-ball career has changed completely in the last few years."

Meanwhile, with his performance against Nepal last evening, the 34-year-old became the most successful Indian bowler in Asia Cup history alongside Irfan Pathan. Both players have taken 22 wickets in the showpiece event.

The all-rounder will likely go past Pathan's tally, when India faces Pakistan on September 10.
