Apart from the players, a crucial component of cricket is the umpire, who works tirelessly for the duration of the whole match, which can be taxing both mentally and physically.

Apart from being focused on the proceedings, an umpire is always under the pump, knowing that a batter can strike the ball toward him anytime, which would call for evasive action.

In a funny incident on Day One of the ongoing County Championship 2023 Division Two match between Yorkshire and Derbyshire, an on-field umpire took a short tumble while moving away from a fiercely struck straight drive.

In the video, the umpire could be seen evading a straight drive from Yorkshire batter Finlay Bean in the third over of Anuj Dal. The umpire stumbled while moving sideways and fell down on his back.

The on-field umpires for the encounter were Neil Pratt and Anthony Charles Harris, with Phil Whitticase serving as the third umpire.

Speaking about the match, Yorkshire managed 297 runs in their first innings, with contributions from James Wharton (58), Jonathan Tattersall (45), and Bean (41). Dal claimed the most wickets for Derbyshire, picking five for 72 in his 20 overs spell.

As of writing, Derbyshire finds themselves in trouble with a score of 194 for six, and still 103 runs behind. However, Wayne Madsen is batting on 84 and has Alex Thomson with him in the middle.

Yorkshire currently are placed at the bottom with 51 points, while Derbyshire occupies sixth place with 85.
