Litton Das, who was ruled out of Bangladesh’s Group Stage Asia Cup 2023 squad after failing to recover from his viral fever in time, is off to Pakistan to re-unite with his teammates.

Following his speedy recover from illness, the dashing opening batter has tendered himself available to play the Super Four set of fixtures for his side. Under Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh team will launch their second round with a match against Asia Cup 2023 co-hosts Pakistan at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on September 6.

Bangladesh team, after routing Afghanistan by 89 runs in Lahore, is set to be enhanced by the return of regular opener Litton Das. The batting veteran missed both of Bangladesh Group B fixtures owing to his viral fever.

On September 4, i.e., a couple of days before Bangladesh takes field in Lahore, Das set himself off to Pakistan for his side’s imminent matches.

His absence was sorely felt by the Bangladesh team management after they slumped to a five-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka in their opening match of the competition.

Earlier, it was speculated that Das has been ruled out for the entire tournament, with Anamul Haque joining the squad as his replacement. His return comes as a surprise to many Bangladeshi fans, as they take first steps in their race towards the finals.

Litton Das made his ODI debut in 2015 with a match against India. Since then, he has turned up 72 times for his country and has emerged as one of the most prominent ODI openers in the last five years.

The right-hander has already piled up over 2,000 runs at an average of nearly 35, with five tons and 10 additional fifty-plus scores to his name.
