Popular YouTube gamer and entertainer, Darren Watkins Jr, widely recognized as "IShowSpeed," stoked the ire of the cricketing community with his candid and seemingly uninformed remarks about one of the sport's most iconic figures, MS Dhoni.
IShowSpeed's comments on Dhoni draws flak from cricket fans
During an old livestream video which is going viral now, a visibly puzzled Watkins, while browsing the internet, questioned,
“Who the f*** is this?" while googling the former Indian captain. He further misinterpreted Dhoni's role by saying, “He’s a f***ing library teacher… Who is Miss Dhoni?...He’s retired, he don’t even play…cut the bullshit.”
The YouTube sensation, known for his bold and often comical remarks, went on to mispronounce Virat Kohli's name as “Why-rat Kohli" and claimed that Kohli was superior because Dhoni had retired.
It's worth noting that Watkins, with his channel boasting over 20 million subscribers, is no stranger to making headlines, often due to his hysterical and sometimes provocative content.
Earlier this year, Watkins had also made waves in the cricketing world with his take on Kohli. He had described cricket as the “easiest sport in the world” and remarked on Kohli hitting a six, claiming it looked “so easy” to do.
However, in a surprising turn of events, as the video progresses, Watkins can be seen reaching out to Kohli on Instagram. In the clip, Watkins is heard sending a voice note to the cricket star, addressing him as a legend and asking for a response, stating he (Watkins) might not be alive the next day.
