Ahead of Day 5 of the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, Indian middle-order batter KL Rahul shed light on captain Rohit Sharma's determined approach to win the second Test match after rain washed out two consecutive days.

India-Bangladesh second Test in Kanpur was severely hampered by heavy rainfall with the situation worsening on Day 3 owing to improper drainage facilities.

However, despite the loss of two days, the Indian team figured out a way to derive results from the dead game. On Day 4, India scored 285 runs in 34.4 overs and chipped two Bangladeshi wickets to set the stage for an entertaining Day 5 contest.

Rohit Sharma's play for the kill message spilled by KL Rahul

Meanwhile, ahead of Day 5, KL Rahul, who contributed with 68 off 43 balls with 158.14 strike rate, spilled beans on captain Rohit Sharma's plans.

He revealed that Rohit instructed everyone to play for a win and not settle for a draw. The intent was infused by the captain's stern message and with clarity of thought, the set plan was successful.

"The message was very clear from the start. We lost a couple of days due to rain. Most of the game was lost to weather, but we wanted to see what we could do in the time that was left. The plan was simple: find a way to play for the win. We were positive," Rahul said.

Not only that, KL Rahul added that Rohit Sharma allowed freedom to batters without worrying about loss of wickets.

"The message was very clear from Rohit. We lost a couple of wickets, but since Rohit's message was so clear that it didn't matter if we got out, we tried to do that." he added.
