Ravindra Jadeja, who is often hailed as one of the finest all-rounders in Test cricket, once again proved his worth during the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Jadeja delivered a crucial spell that put India in a commanding position. His ability to strike at key moments was on full display as he removed two of Bangladesh’s most important players, Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan, in quick succession.

The turning point came during the 30th over of Bangladesh’s second innings. Jadeja bowled a well-placed delivery outside the off-stump, slightly slower than usual, which generated extra bounce. Litton Das, Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batter, attempted to play off the back foot but misjudged the delivery. The ball glanced off his gloves and flew to Rishabh Pant, who took a sharp catch behind the stumps. Das departed cheaply, scoring just 1 run off 8 balls, leaving Bangladesh in a precarious position.

Shakib Al Hasan Departs For A Duck Against India

Jadeja wasn’t done yet. In his very next over, the 32nd of the innings, he struck again. This time, it was Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder, who fell victim to Jadeja’s precise bowling. On just the second ball of the over, Shakib came forward to defend but failed to get to the pitch of the ball. He ended up playing an aerial shot straight back to Jadeja, who made no mistake in taking the catch. Shakib’s dismissal for a 2-ball duck further dented Bangladesh’s hopes.

Ravindra Jadeja’s masterclass with the ball continued, as his relentless pressure led to a double-wicket maiden over. The left-arm spinner not only took out two of Bangladesh’s key players but also swung the match decisively in India’s favour. Jadeja had earlier dismissed Bangladesh’s skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto, for 19 runs, marking the start of his wicket-taking spree.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh are struggling at 98 for 7 in 33 overs, leading by just 50 runs.
