On Monday, Rohit Sharma and his team took the field in Kanpur with a renewed sense of urgency and a clear objective to secure victory in the ongoing second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur.

After rain interruptions limited play to just 35 overs in the first three days, India made a concerted effort to take control of the match on Day 4. Under the dynamic leadership of captain Rohit Sharma, India's approach to the game was aggressive and dynamic.

The Indian side, needing to accelerate the match to set up a result, began their innings with an aggressive mindset. Yashasvi Jaiswal, opening the batting, wasted no time in making an impact. Following his young partner's lead, Rohit Sharma announced his arrival at the crease with a massive six off the first ball he faced.

Saba Karim Lauds Rohit Sharma's Captaincy

Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim, while speaking to JioCinema, expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. He highlighted how Rohit's decision-making and approach to the game had undergone a remarkable transformation in Test cricket.

"I think it reveals a lot about Rohit Sharma's character. This is the transformation we have seen in Rohit’s captaincy in Test cricket, and we already witnessed it in white-ball cricket. His decision-making is precise, and it is evident that he has the right personnel around him to execute his plans," said Karim.

He emphasised how Rohit Sharma leads by example, setting the tone for the rest of the team to follow. His intentions in the second Test against Bangladesh have always been clear and impactful.

"I think Rohit's intentions have always been very clear. The decision-making has been very precise and I think it is good in a way that he's got players or resources in his lineup who can follow the path that he treads, and he leads by example all the time, and I've seen that in the past and even now in this Test innings. He added.

Saba Karim also noted a stark contrast between Rohit Sharma's leadership style and that of previous Indian captains. He further added, in the past, captains would often adopt a cautious approach, allowing time for players to settle in before accelerating the innings.

However, under Rohit, there are 'no half-measures'. The Indian skipper’s mantra is to make clear intentions from the first ball and immediately go on the offensive.

"This is the most refreshing aspect of Rohit Sharma's captaincy. In the past, captains would say, ‘Let's take time, let’s settle in, and then we’ll accelerate.’ But with Rohit, there’s no such approach. From ball one, you have to make your intent clear," said Karim.

A victory over Bangladesh would put India in a stronger position in the WTC standings, allowing them to control their destiny in the final stages of the competition.
