In the latest news, Bangladesh made history as they defeated Pakistan in the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and completed a 2-0 series sweep on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 185, Bangladesh reached the mark in the 56th over of their second innings, and what made it more special for them was that Shakib Al Hasan scored the winning runs.  

This victory etched its name in the record books as it marked Bangladesh's first-ever Test series win against Pakistan. 

Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan's Significant Contribution 

Before this series, Bangladesh had never defeated Pakistan in a Test match, but they turned the tide dramatically. After a commanding 10-wicket win in the first Test, the Bangla Tigers continued their momentum in the second Test as well and secured a resounding six-wicket win.

The second Test saw standout performances from Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who played crucial roles in Bangladesh's success. 

In the first innings, Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble at 26/6, but Litton and Mehidy mounted a remarkable recovery. Mehidy scored a vital 78 off 124 balls, while Litton shone with a brilliant 138.

Mehidy Hasan's Stellar All-round Performnce

He was awarded as the 'Player Of The Series' for his stellar all-round contributions across the series. He acknowledged the challenge of batting at number 8 but also mentioned that he enjoyed his partnership with Litton Das. After that, he particularly mentioned that he would like to dedicate the award to the family of a rickshaw driver, who lost his life during the recent riot in Bangladesh.

"First of all I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity and this is my first award outside my home, so I am really happy. Well it is a tough job to bat at Number 8 but I enjoyed my batting with Litton Das. Yeah it is a really brilliant achievement for me to pick five wicket haul and I want to do better. I would like to give a lot of credit to my support staff for always backing me and I enjoyed practicing at home." Mehidy stated. 


(In Bengali) I would like to dedicate to my Bangladeshi Supporters that I have been have awarded as the Player of the Series. As we know back in Bangladesh, we have had a tough time as a rickshaw person has lost his life so I would like to dedicate this award to his family."

With a target of 185 set for victory, Bangladesh chased it down comfortably, sealing a historic series win. This triumph not only marked a milestone for Bangladesh cricket but also ended Pakistan's hopes of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
