Pakistan lifted the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 title after defeating Kuwait by 44 runs at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. The victory prompted a congratulatory note from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

This was Pakistan’s sixth title at the Hong Kong Sixes, making them the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

The side was led by all-rounder Abbas Afridi, who produced a stunning all-round show in the final, smashing 52 runs off just 11 balls and guiding his team to a mammoth total of 136.

Batting first, Pakistan got off to a blistering start, with Abdul Samad hammering 42 off 13 deliveries, including five sixes. Kuwait’s bowlers were put under severe pressure as Pakistan posted one of the highest totals of the competition.

In reply, Kuwait showed early aggression but couldn’t keep up with Pakistan’s intensity. Maaz Sadaqat starred with the ball, taking three wickets and breaking the back of Kuwait’s chase.

Meanwhile, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in a post on social media platform X, praised the Pakistan Sixes for their skill, teamwork, and passion, calling the win a reflection of Pakistan’s true cricketing spirit.

Naqvi’s congratulatory message came as fans and former cricketers across the country celebrated in what they think is a massive moment for Pakistan cricket.

The PCB chief also lauded the young players for their fearless approach and said their success is a good sign of the depth of talent emerging from the country’s domestic structure.

Pakistan failed to conquer India

Interestingly, India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by a narrow two-run margin in a rain-affected Pool C match at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025.

Batting first, India managed 86/4 in their six overs, thanks to a quick-fire 28 off 11 balls from Robin Uthappa.

The thrilling contest was curtailed by rain. When play stopped after three overs of Pakistan's chase, they were 41/1 but fell short of the required target based on the DLS method.

Stuart Binny's economical bowling (1/7) proved crucial in securing the hard-fought victory for India.

However, India failed to advance after repeated defeats against the UAE and Kuwait.
