The Hong Kong Sixes 2025 ended with a bit of fun, spice, and social media banter. Pakistan’s Muhammad Shahzad took to social media to throw shade at India’s Dinesh Karthik using Hardik Pandya's iconic celebration.

Pakistan beat Kuwait by 43 runs in the final to clinch the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 title. Abbas Afridi hammered 52 off 11 balls to guide the men in green to 135/3.

With the ball, Maaz Sadaqat led the charge with three wickets for 29 runs in 2 overs.

Muhammad Shahzad trolls Dinesh Karthik with a cheeky post

Meanwhile, as Pakistan lifted the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 title, all-rounder Muhammad Shahzad took to social media to take a cheeky dig at India wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik.

Copying Hardik Pandya's signature Khaby Lame celebration, Shahzad wrote, “Fun end to the Hong Kong Sixes. Business as usual 😉 #WeHaveARealTrophy.”

The post was a direct response to Karthik’s earlier tweet from the opening day, when India had beaten Pakistan.

Karthik, India Sixes’ captain, had cheekily written, “Fun start to Hong Kong Sixes. Winning against Pak😉.”

This comes amid strained cricketing relations between India and Pakistan. During the 2025 Asia Cup in Dubai, the handshake tradition ahead of or after matches was not followed before the India-Pakistan fixture.

Pakistan players then made celebratory gestures (for example, a “jet plane” motion and “6-0” sign) that India regarded as provocative, resulting in formal complaints and calls to uphold sporting decorum.

To make matters worse, ACC and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi seized the Asia Cup trophy after India refused to collect it from him.

Hence, Muhammad Shahzad’s reaction to Dinesh Karthik’s action is a subtle sign that the cold war is unlikely to end on the cricket field anytime soon.

Up next, India A and Pakistan A will compete in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025, where tensions are expected to further flare up.
