The Asia Cup is going on and India are through to the Super 4s. After the game against Pakistan which ended in a no result, Jasprit Bumrah flew back to Mumbai for the birth of his child.

Especially in India, cricket is being treated as a religion, and when players prioritize themselves over playing for the country, the fans do not give good treatment to the players. And that's what Bumrah's backlash is all about.

The fans are not pleased with the decision of the star seamer to fly back and miss a game of a tournament like the Asia Cup and that too ahead of the World Cup 2023.

The fans are comparing Bumrah's situation to MS Dhoni's and Virat Kohli's. When Dhoni's daughter Ziva was born, he was in Australia representing India in the World Cup 2015. On the other hand, while Kohli's daughter Vamika was born, he decided to take a break for the ODI series which was in South Africa and left the Test series against Australia after the first Test.

MSD believed that every other thing could wait as he was on national duty representing India at the World Cup. Kohli told everyone that he would not miss the special moment for the world and would be present at the time of the birth of his daughter.

Making this the talk of the town, people on social media have started mocking Bumrah for leaving Men in Blue before the clash against Nepal on Monday. Meanwhile, the speedster will join the team before the Super-4 stage.

Netizens reacted over Bumrah's decision to fly back home:

Amidst the criticism Bumrah is getting, some of the fans are actually defending him and understanding his decision. They are also urging people to respect his decision as he wanted to be with his family for this special occasion.
