The chief selector of India, Ajit Agarkar, and captain Rohit Sharma have announced the team for the upcoming World Cup 2023. Even though India did not get enough chance at the Asia Cup to test out the combinations, they already had a team for the World Cup ready.

The 15-member squad is out, and the team looks strong with KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah back from injuries. The team still has a few games before the World Cup, which will be enough for the players who are coming back from injuries.

While announcing the team in the press conference, the Indian captain expressed his views on having three quality all-rounders in the 15-man line-up.

He believes that the batting and bowling depth was not there in the last few years when Hardik Pandya was injured. But now this is the full-strength Indian team and Rohit looks confident with the unit as well.

'We had to create batting and bowling depth'- Rohit Sharma

"We had to create batting and bowling depth. It was lacking in the last few years. In batting, the number 8 and 9 position can become crucial. It's important to contribute with the bat down the order. 10-15 runs can become a winning or losing margin," Sharma said.

"We are happy with the team. We have 3 all-rounders, 4 pacers and 7 batters. We have thought hard before picking this combination," he added.

Having players like Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur at the back end, allows the team to get those vital 15-20 runs. And we have seen what Jasprit Bumrah can do with the bat in the first game of the Asia Cup against Pakistan.

The Indian team will be heading into the World Cup with all the hope, being the hosts of the event, and hopefully they can recreate something like 2011.
