“Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it - Jasprit and Sanjana.”
Bumrah will miss India’s final Group A match against Nepal, set to be played in Kandy on September 4. The speedster is expected to fly back to Sri Lanka within a few days to join the Indian team for their Super Four campaign.
The Super Four stage of the tournament will commence September 6 with a match between Bangladesh and co-hosts Pakistan. India’s fixtures, however, will be played out at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The ongoing Asia Cup 2023 marks Jasprit Bumrah’s return to team’s ODI fold, following his year-long recovery from a back injury. The ace pacer did feature in India’s short T20I trip to Ireland last month, where he signalled his return with a ‘Player of the Series’ performance.
