Pakistan Cricket Board, on Tuesday (September 5), confirmed their playing XI, which will take the field against Bangladesh in the first Super 4 fixture of the Asia Cup 2023. The Men in Green, led by Babar Azam, made one change before moving on to the next stage despite using the same unit in the group league matches against Nepal and India, respectively.

Bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf is back in the Pakistan lineup for the Bangladesh match, which will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday (September 6). The 29-year-old will replace Mohammad Nawaz, who conceded 55 runs without taking any wicket against India in their previous encounter. Prior to the match, Nawaz bowled an impressive two-over spell against Nepal, claiming 1 for 13.

Just before the Asia Cup, Faheem Ashraf was given an opportunity in the third and final ODI against Afghanistan. He lived up to the mark, taking two crucial wickets of Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and conceded 43 off his 10 overs.

Pakistan appear to be a very settled side on paper, and Faheem will be an out-and-out replacement for Nawaz. Therefore, he will come to bat at No. 8 if required.
