Priyansh Arya has conquered nearly every bowling attack in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 season through his aggressive batting approach.

On Saturday, August 31, the young left-handed opening batter emulated Yuvraj Singh by smacking six sixes in an over. He smashed ten boundaries and as many sixes in the innings, scoring 120 runs from just 50 deliveries to soar past the 500-run seasonal mark.

Amidst Priyansh Arya’s run-scoring juggernaut, here at OneCricket, we take a detailed look at his cricketing journey and playing profile so far.

Who is Priyansh Arya?

Left-handed Delhi-based batter, Priyansh Arya is also known for bowling occasional off-breaks. He has played a handful of 50-overs matches for India A Under-19s during the 2019 Quadrangular Series.

However, Arya made his Indian domestic debut through a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match against Uttarakhand back in November 2021 at the age of nearly 21.

Opening the innings for Delhi, he managed only 19 runs off 16 deliveries on a bowling-friendly surface in a low-scoring match.

Priyansh Arya has also played five List A matches and made his 50-overs debut for Delhi during the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy season.

On his maiden outing, the youngster launched six boundaries and three sixes in his blazing 32-ball 45-run knock in a match-winning cause. A bright young prospect for the future, Arya played the last of his 14 white-ball games for Delhi back in December 2023.

Recent form of Priyansh Arya

Of late, Priyansh Arya has been making his presence felt in the DPL 2024 season as a prolific opening batter for the South Delhi Superstarz.

In his first eight innings of the tournament, the dynamic southpaw gathered a staggering haul of 576 runs at a Bradman-esque average of 96, all while maintaining a batting strike-rate of nearly 200.

At this stage, Arya’s Superstarz teammate and IPL graduate Ayush Badoni is the only other batter to score over 500 runs in the season.

Himmat Singh, who ranked third among the run-scoring charts of the season, fell below half of Priyansh Arya’s overall seasonal tally with 279 runs.

On August 31, the 23-year-old player emulated India’s World Cup winning legend Yuvraj Singh by smacking six sixes in a single over.

Taking the attack to North Delhi Strikers, Priyansh Arya pummeled hapless spinner Manan Bhardwaj with six elegant hits to shape 120 runs from just 50 balls in the innings.

With an IPL mega auction on the horizon, Arya’s name is bound to circulate among all franchises as they bid to safeguard the explosive power-hitting opener for future seasons.
