Harsh Dubey received his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) cap in match number 61 of the 2025 season at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The cricketer was included in the SRH playing XI in place of senior fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat.
Celebrating Dubey’s success and rise into the IPL ranks, here is a look at his cricketing journey and domestic roots.
Who Is Harsh Dubey
Harsh Dubey, born in Pune back in July 2002, made his debut in competitive cricket during the 2020-21 Indian domestic home season for Vidarbha. Facing Tamil Nadu in an Elite Group B match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Dubey failed to make any impact with either bat or ball in his debut game.
Later that year, he made his T20 debut for the same team. Fast forward to December 2022, and Harsh Dubey received his maiden first-class cap for Vidarbha during a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir in Nagpur. In his first-ever innings in whites, the youngster scored a gritty 55 from 71 balls.
A bowling all-rounder by trade, the cunning left-arm spinner enjoyed his breakthrough season in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy for Vidarbha. Picking up 69 wickets with the ball and hauling 476 runs with the bat, Dubey’s all-round excellence fetched him a ‘Player of the Tournament’ award, and his team its third-ever Ranji title.
In light of his prolific all-round run in Ranji Trophy, Harsh Dubey was roped in by the SRH franchise in May as a replacement of key batter Ravichandran Smaran.
On Monday, May 19, Harsh finally got his time under the sun when he was included in SRH’s playing XI for their away match against LSG.
