Blessing Muzarabani is highly likely to become the fifth Zimbabwean player to participate in the Indian Premier League. In doing so, he will also be the first fast bowler from his country to play in the cash-rich league.

Having worked with Lucknow Super Giants as a net bowler in the past, the 28-year-old player has joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a “temporary replacement” for South African counterpart Lungi Ngidi.

Part of Zimbabwe’s Test squad for the imminent one-off four-day Test match in England, the right-arm bowler will leave for India on May 26 to potentially partake in RCB’s last IPL 2025 league match against LSG at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 27.

Blessing Muzarabani T20 Stats

While Muzarabani is yet to debut in the IPL, he has represented Northamptonshire (Vitality Blast), Southern Rocks (Zimbabwe Domestic Twenty20 Competition), Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings (Pakistan Super League), St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (Caribbean Premier League) and Gulf Giants (International League T20) during the course of his T20 career.

Outside of his 70 T20Is, Muzarabani has picked 49 wickets at an average of 25.83, an economy rate of 7.56 and a strike rate of 20.4 across 48 T20s for the aforementioned teams.

Slated to play under head coach Andy Flower, it is to be mentioned that he has performed exceedingly well under him at Sultans and Giants. In 27 such T20s, Muzarabani’s 37 wickets have come at an average of 19.32, an economy rate of 7.38 and a strike rate of 15.7.

With Royal Challengers having already qualified for the playoffs, Muzarabani, most importantly, might get to contribute in the team’s cause during the playoffs. Notably, Bengaluru are yet to lift the silverware.

Not eligible to be retained before next season, Muzarabani’s solid outing(s) could fetch him a full-time IPL deal during IPL 2026 auction.
